Press Release #3 from the 3D2R Rotuma DXpedition Team.
All 3D2R Team members have now assembled in Suva, Fiji. Upon our arrival, we learned that our shipping container is delayed in New Zealand. Fortun- ately, the team members have brought radios, amplifiers and antennas with them to Fiji. We will be able to run five stations and emphasize the low- bands as planned.

We are now preparing our ship for our two day voyage to Rotuma. We antic- ipate arriving in Rotuma late in the evening of September 27th and we expect to be active early on September 28th.

The 3D2R team wishes you good luck and good fun in working us.

Thank you,
The 3D2R Rotuma 2011 Team.

LATEST FROM MARKET REEF
Talking to Market Reef today found happy campers with everything working well and DL3DXX & SP5XVY getting ready to run the RTTY Contest multi- single. This will be the very first time OJ is activated for the CQWW RTTY Contest. Good luck on contacting OJ0X over the weekend.

The other two operators - DL5CW and DH7LA - continue to run two more stations, mostly on WARC bands plus 160M. The 160M Titanex of DL3DXX fame will be kept up for the next two weeks, and the follow-up group will keep 160M busy. The change of operator crew is scheduled for Tuesday, and the weather looks cooperative at this point. See the weather report:

The lighthouse has a new 3kW wind generator that keeps sixteen 200Ah batteries charged. When reaching the low limit, a 5kW generator auto- matically starts charging the batteries. The total available power is three times 5kW, that is 15kW. So this is why OJ0X is running three stations with amps without making their hands dirty:

Also, the group is supported by a Finnish Lighthouse Society person who provides hot meals twice a day. Our DXpeditioners report good food quality and quantity.

A poor Internet connection eliminated log search updates last night but they will try again over the weekend.

It has been a great week of fighting against Mother Nature and making people happy on several odd bands and modes, such as 12M, and a lot of camaraderie among those working on the barren rock. That's when inter- national DXpeditioning is always at its best.
