CQ PRESS RELEASE
Rich, W2VU, sent out the following on March 19th:

Tony Emanuele, WA8RJF, has been named VHF Editor of CQ Amateur Radio magazine, Editor Rich Moseson, W2VU, announced today.

Emanuele succeeds Joe Lynch, N6CL, who stepped down after 22 years as VHF Editor to devote his full energies to his new position as Director of Religious Education for the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. Lynch's final column appears in the March/April, 2014, issue of CQ. Emanuele will begin writing the "VHF Plus" column as of the June issue.

A ham for nearly 50 years, Emanuele has been active on VHF and above for the past 30 years, enjoys building equipment and has operated on all bands from 6 meters to 47 GHz. His overriding goal for the column, he says, will be to "help promote activity on 2 meters and above."

"The hobby is undergoing a change," notes Tony. " As much as we enjoy the activities and methods that we employ today and in the past, we must be mindful of what will attract new people to amateur radio and speci- fically to VHF and above."

"I am looking forward to working with Tony," says Moseson. "We share very similar philosophies about the importance of VHF and UHF in the overall ham radio hobby, and about the role of CQ's VHF Plus column in promoting activity on the higher frequencies."

Professionally, Emanuele is Sales Engineer/Sales Manager for a specialty LCD company. He lives in Painesville, Ohio.

VK9M, MELLISH REEF (Update #2)
On March 20th, the following was posted from Mackay Australia [edited]:
VK9MT Update #2 -- Please use as you require:

1. The Advance Team arrived in Mackay on March 18th - 19th. After many connections and over 30 hours of plane / layover time from EU and US we finally arrived at hotel.
2. Next morning we met the owner of the receiving firm and began the task of inventorying the shipments and opening the crates and barrels.
3. We spent the better part of two days at shops around Mackay buying items we thought too expensive to ship round trip from the US and EU.
4. The boat arrived from Dunedin, New Zealand, on the 17th and we visited with the skipper and crew. We have a parking pass and access key for the marina so we're loading the the boat in small loads rather than hiring a trucking firm to bring everything at once. The crew has been very helpful with the loading process.
5. Other team members will be arriving over the next few days.
6. Today, in between rain showers, we will test the generators, assemble antennas that we received directly from SteppIR and make final tuning adjustments to the folding hex beams that we were unable to do in the US because of the cold and snow.
The people we've met in Mackay at the various firms we visited have all be very helpful, offering us assistance as we require.
Next update in a few days..... 73, Team Mellish 2014"

Just a reminder that the VK9MT Mellish Reef DXpedition is scheduled to arrive on March 28th and be active between March 29th and April 9th. The VK9MT Web page is:

W9DXCC - NEW LOCATION (Press Release)[edited]
Schaumburg, IL The Northern Illinois DX Association, sponsor of the annual W9DXCC DX Convention and Banquet, announces several exciting new changes to reflect the growth of the convention and the continuing support from amateurs. W9DXCC 2014 will be held September 19-20th, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 1800 East Golf Road, Schaumburg, IL. The Hyatt Hotel is a larger venue and is well suited for W9DXCC's continued expansion. It is located in the heart of Schaumburg's Woodfield region, close to a large variety of restaurant and entertainment options. The hotel is located minutes from Chicago's O'Hare airport and has on-site Avis and Budget car rental. The Hyatt is located across from the world famous Woodfield Shopping Center, one of the largest indoor shopping malls in the United States perfect for accompanying spouses!

The 2014 convention will feature a full day of DX University sessions on Friday and an expanded convention setting on Saturday. Commercial exhibit areas have been expanded and are closer to the main convention activity. Many other exciting changes are being planned.

Mark your calendars NOW for September 19-20th! We recommend arrival on Thursday as the Friday sessions will start early Friday morning. To make your Hyatt hotel room reservation, call 1-888-421-1442.
