5W, SAMOA
Before their KH8 operation as part of the ARRL Centennial celebration (W1AW/KH8, see OPDX.1175), operators John/N7CQQ, Cliff/KD6XH and Paul/W8AEF will be active as 5W0QQ, 5W0XH and 5W0EF, respectively, from Apia between October 23-28th. Activity will take place before and during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th). QSL via their home callsign, direct and LoTW.

A3, TONGA
Lee, VK3GK, who was recently active from Norfolk Island, is now active as A35RT from Eua Island (OC-049) until October 13th. His activity will be limited due to his involvement in the Rotary International Humani- tarian project. However, he does plan to be active in the Oceania DX Contest on CW and SSB. Operations outside of the contest will be on 80-10 meters, including the 30/17/12m bands, using CW, SSB and possibly RTTY. QSL via his home callsign, direct or by the Bureau.

A7, QATAR (Press Release) [edited]

"Once again, a joint team with members from the 'Danish Contest Academy' and the 'Qatar Amateur Radio Society' will be active from Al Khor in northern Qatar in the M/2 category in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as 'A73A'.

Operators Jan/OZ1ADL, Aziz/A71GO, Mubarak/A71AE, Alex/OZ7AM, Abdulrahim/ A71BA, Abdul/A71BR, Ken/OZ1IKY, Mindaugas/LY4L, Jogesh/VU2BZY, Tom/A7/WT2NY, Younis/A41MA and more members of QARS will be active from the compound and at the same time use the opportunity to display Radio Sport to visitors.

The team will be setting up the station in the week prior to the Contest and will be active with the regular club callsign A71A, with a particular emphasis on the low bands. QSL via A71A."

D4, CAPE VERDE
Ralf, DK8FA, will be active as D44TUJ from Boa Vista (AF-086) until October 15th. QSL via DK8FA, direct or by the Bureau.

E3, ERITREA (Update/Dated September 23rd)
Jay, JA1TRC, from the FGC Radio Team reports:

"Zorro shut down the station around 18:00 UTC on 22nd September for this trip. He reported that he made 4,200+ QSOs, with his pleasure of giving ATNOs. He said it was the toughest QRV from DX he had ever experienced and exhausted himself by his official duties. However, he was healed whenever he heard 'Thank you Zorro for your hard work.'

He is on his way back to JA land and expected to arrive Tokyo around noon on 24th September local time. We will start arranging DXCC and LoTW documentations and register the LoTW account. We also will provide ClubLog online check and OQRS for convenient QSLing, after he returns to SEISA/FGC office."

EA8, CANARY ISLANDS
Alex, RA1A, will be active as EA8/RA1A from the Canary Islands during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (15m) entry. QSL via RN3RQ or LoTW.

AF-040. (Reminder) By the time you read this, Markus, DJ4EL, will be active as 5Z4/DJ4EL from Lamu Island, Kenya, until October 19th. Activity will be on 40-10 meters using SSB. NA-247. (NEW) By the time you read this, operators Dom/3Z9DX, Jeremy/ EI5GM, Dave/EI9FBB, Frans/J69DS and Col/MM0NDX should be in St. Maarten with the primary aim to activate the NEW IOTA -- Pelikan Key, St. Maarten's Coastal Island. Their approximate dates of activity are scheduled between October 6-10th, but as with most island activations everything is dependent on calm seas and good WX. They will be using the callsign PJ7PK. JD1, OGASAWARA
Freddy, F4HEC, will be active as JD1BOX from Chichijima Island (AS-031, WLOTA 2269, WWFF JAFF-018, JCG 10007), Tokyo Prefecture, between December 4-12th. Reports indicate that Freddy is one of the very few European operators to ever receive a JD1 callsign. Activity will be on 80-10 meters using SSB only. QSL via F4HEC, by the Bureau or direct.

JD1, MINAMI TORISHIMA
Take, JG8NQJ, will once again be active as JG8NQJ/JD1 from Marcus Island in the Minami Torishima (OC-073, JCG 10007) group between mid-October until mid-December. He is usually there to work on the island's weather station. Activity will be limited to his spare time. He will be mainly on 17 meters but also on 15/12/10 meters CW. Look for special event station JU50VOM to be active until October 31st. Activity is to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the foreign language radio "Voice of Mongolia". QSL via JT1BV, direct, LoTW or eQSL).

Operators Bob/5B4AGN, Dennia/F5VHY, Roger/G3SXW and Jack/G8DX will be active as P3F from the Cyprus QTH of 5B4AGN for the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 29-30th) in the Multi-Two category. P4, ARUBA
Operators Joel/N5JR (P40JR) and Jim/NT5V (P40JW) will be active from Aruba between October 7-14th. They will operate CW, SSB and RTTY on 160-6 meters with an emphasis on 30/17/12m and 80/160m. QSL via their home callsigns or LoTW.

PJ2, CURACAO
Frank, PA4N, will be active as PJ2V from Curacao Island (SA-099) during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 29-30th) as a Single-Op/ Single-Band (15m) entry. SILENT KEY
OPDX has been informed that Bob Elms VK6BE, became a Silent Key (SK) on Friday, September 26th, at the age of 94. Bob was a VK6 legend. He was also a WIA Broadcast Officer from his home in Central St. Kalamunda for many years before the move south. OPDX and its readers would like to send out our deepest sympathy to the friends and family of VK6BE.

They are going to use a Vertical Dipole Antennas (VDA) on 10, 15 and 20 meters; loops on 40 and 80 meters and inverted L on top band from "Playa La Herradura" at Las Tunas north-coast.
