Whether or not this DXpedition will take place depends on the next big hurdle, funding. An interesting Web page has been designed which provides more background information and full details with some great pictures, as well as details on his funding approach at:

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE http://www.bandconditions.com: The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual (REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre- dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry" which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

STANDARD TIME. Did you remember to change your clocks?
Countries who observe Daylight Saving Time (DST), which took place on Sunday, March 9th, are now expected to move their "local clocks" backward 1 hour on Sunday, November 2nd, from 2:00 AM local time to 1:00 AM. In 2015, Day- light Saving Time (DST) will again go into effect on Sunday, March 8th, at 2:00 AM local time. For the history and details about ST and DST, as well as an interesting map of the world (showing the countries who observe DST), see:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_time
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time
http://www.timeanddate.com/time/dst/2015.html
ADDED NOTE: Hopefully, all amateur radio operators know not to change their GMT/UTC/ZULU clocks. However, since most operators usually set their computers to local time, some may have to change their settings on "some" ham radio software (ex. logging, propagation, DXTelnet, etc..) programs.

VU4KV, ANDAMAN AND NICOBAR ISLAND (Updates)
Deepak, VU2CDP, forward the following message from Krish, W4VKU, dated October 25th [edited]:

"You asked and we promised to deliver, and we are well on course!

While we have been caught up with the preparations as our travel dates approach, it has been a while since our last update. We apologize for the silence. But we want you to know that we have been very focused on putting VU4 on air ever since we got back home after VU7AG last December. Various emails and notes with QSLs requesting a VU4 operation resulted in taking up this project in earnest. Though the team had limited holiday time from work, they still committed to VU4. The VU4K trip in March was fruitful as it helped lay the groundwork for the upcoming operation. Despite uncertain- ties with various agencies that need to sign off papers for approval, we kept up the pressure and were rewarded with the permission in August.

VU4KV plans are on track. All the hardware is already in VU waiting to be shipped. The Cyclone ‘HudHud’ that passed over VU4 caused boat schedules to change thrice since late September. There is very little chance that we will get a seat on the inter-island helicopter (chopper).

For Campbell Bay (Great Nicobar Island), the team had decided not to pursue a separate callsign, as elsewhere reported, and instead focus on operation planning.

Expected QRV is anytime from Nov 4th to Nov 7th depending on the arrival of the boat at Campbell Bay. Timely updates will be published by the team members/pilots for the benefit of the DX community. CW & SSB will be the only modes used in the Nicobar activation on 3-4 bands.

Neil Island (Andaman) QRV plans are from Nov 16th until 30th November. Clublog Leader-board will remain disabled for both operations. Please keep checking the website www.vu4kv.info for details.

A big thank you to the Swan Island DX Association members (Bill K4CIA, Lou K4BYN, Keith N4XC, Karl W4CHX, Paul K5ESW, and Bill K4MWB) for helping with the processing of Bureau cards for past operations. This has allowed us to focus on planning with countless hours on the phone every day. Also, a big thank you to Sri, KJ4DAQ, for all the fabrication work for the antennas, and to Rusty, W3US, for lending a helping hand with the testing.

Here's a W3US approved design :).
We look forward to seeing you in the pileups.... 73 de Krish W4VKU"

November 1st:
"As you read this, Krish and Pai are en route to Nicobar from Port Blair in the Andamans. They expect to arrive in Campbell Bay, Great Nicobar Island late Sunday evening after more than a day's sailing. The callsign to be used for Nicobar will be VU4CB and expected QRV is Monday 3rd, November.

Krish had paid a visit to the authorities in New Delhi on Thursday to discuss matters related to reciprocal licensing (something Krish and the team are keen to help the dx fraternity with), and an inquiry on the request for a separate callsign resulted in instant approval. A few hours later the document authorizing VU4CB was in hand! A rather unexpected but very welcome development. This helps us tremendously as there was likely to be some confusion if the same callsign was used for both Nicobar and Andaman operations. Our sincere thanks to the staff at WPC, New Delhi for acceding to our request.

The Nicobar band plan is published on the page on our website and can be accessed here http://www.vu4kv.info/campbell-bay/. We would like to reiterate that this is an IOTA operation by a two man team and the focus would be handing out the rare IOTA entity, not DXCC band counters. So please respect the need of small pistol stations and IOTA chasers world- wide to log this entity. The larger operation from Neil Island will cater to all DXCC needs of DXers world-wide.

Thank you for your support and good luck in the pileups!" The following URL link is a picture of Pai/VU2PAI and Krish/W4VKU at Chennai airport this morning before boarding their flights to Port Blair, Andaman:

XU7, CAMBODIA
Vladimir, RN5A, will be active as XU7/RN5A from Sihanoukville between November 5-20th. Activity will be on the HF bands. QSL via RC3C.
