REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE :
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry"
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

STANDARD TIME. Did you remember to change your clocks? Countries who
observe Daylight Saving Time (DST), which took place on Sunday, March
13th, are now expected to move their "local clocks" backward 1 hour on
Sunday, November 6th, from 2:00 AM local time to 1:00 AM. In 2017, Day-
light Saving Time (DST) will again go into effect on Sunday, March 12th,
at 2:00 AM local time. For the history and details about ST and DST, as
well as an interesting map of the world (showing the countries who observe
DST), see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_time
              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time
              http://www.timeanddate.com/time/dst/2015.html
ADDED NOTE: Hopefully, all amateur radio operators know not to change
their GMT/UTC/ZULU clocks. However, since most operators usually set their
computers to local time, some may have to change their settings on "some"
ham radio software (ex. logging, propagation, DXTelnet, etc..) programs.

be limited activity outside of the contest, but he will try to get on the
WARC/Low Bands when possible. QSL direct via AB2E for any and all oper-

in VP2V-land and ran a resort/bar there for many years and operated as
VP2VI. Bob was a former president of both ARRL and IARU, and also one
of the early creators of the modern DXpedition. The group will be operating
the contest as either Multi-Single or Multi/2. QSL VP2VI via W2LK. Outside
of the contest, they will be using VP2V/homecall. QSLs for those QSOs
should go via their home callsign. ADDED NOTE: Prior to their arrival in
VP2V, they will all be staying in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, between
November 18-22nd, but there are no current plans to be active on the air
from KP2. More details to follow.

QSL only via LoTW.

YN, NICARAGUA (Humorous Special Event). OM Brooke, N2BA, (not a YL) will
be active as YN2SX from Granada between November 25-30th. Activity will
be on 160-10 meters including the 30/17/12m bands using CW and SSB. He
plans to be in the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 26-27th) as a Single-Op/
Single-Band (20m) or All-Band/Low-Power entry. QSL via WA3RHW. By the
way, this is a special event station. Brooke states the following on his
QRZ.com page: "Our hobby is almost entirely male and it appears that every
year the average age goes up by a year. It finally occurred to me that
the reason we don't have more young hams is because we aren't having more
kids.
That is why I've decided to create YN2SX as a special event station
commemorating the 1,200,000,000th anniversary of the invention of sex
(plus/minus a few hundred million years). Note: Scientists believe sex
was invented on a Monday but wasn't perfected until a Sunday, however
they are not certain of the exact year sex was invented so this year is
as good as any. -- Our operation is sponsored by the Ham
Widows Organization. I strongly suggest you have your XYL check it out."

ZL7, CHATHAM ISLANDS (Update). Members of the "6G" team will only be active
as ZL7G from Chatham Island (OC-038) until November 9th. Activity is on
160-10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. As this was being written, the ZL7G
team has made over 36k QSOs, and reports on November 6th: "RTTY QSO numbers
are now increasing well, and we have had a good opening on 15m to Europe
RTTY. We will start 30m RTTY today around 04.00 with a focus on Europe.
Last night, the static on LF was very bad and today (Sunday) we have
challenges on LF with the contest activity. 17m has now provided good
propagation to Europe and we will continue to exploit 17m when conditions
allow." QSL via G3TXF direct, OQRS or LoTW. More details and updates can
be found on their Web page at: http://www.6gs.org.uk
