This year's "2019 SWODXA DXpedition" at the Day-Xenia's HamVention went to the KH1/KH7Z Baker Island DXpedition. The KH1/KH7Z DXpedition Team consisted of James/9V1YC, Ned/AA7A, George/AA7JV, Tomi/HA7RY, Ken/JN1THL, Mike/KN4EEI, John/K6MM, Kevin/K6TD, Doug/N1DG, Rick/N4HU, Sam/N4XP, Arnold/N6HC, Mike/N6MZ, Tom/ND2T and David/WJ2O. E31A ERITREA 2019 DXPEDITION (Reminder). The FGC Radio Team (E31A) will be active from The State of Eritrea between May 25th and June 3rd. Zorro, JH1AJT, CEO of SEISA and FGC (Foundation for Global Children) and the team will be visit Eritrea to participate in the "Eritrean Independence Ceremony". The main purpose of this trip is to support the Eritrea National Olympic Committee (E.N.O.C). The SEISA's group will "coordinate a pre-game train- ing camp" for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and select students for a scholarship program at the SEISA Kokusai Junior High School and University. Activity will be on 160-6 meters with a primary focus on 40, 80 and 160 meters during hours of darkness. They will also operate 30-6 meters depending on openings. Primary modes will be CW and FT8. Their plan is to operate FT8 in Fox/ Hound mode on DXpedition frequencies. SSB and RTTY are also planned. There will be NO operation on 60 meters or PSK modes. When the normal FT8 frequencies are busy, they will operate Fox/Hound mode on: 3567, 7056, 10131, 14090, 18095, 21091, 24911 and 28091 kHz. Yuri says the owner of Tillamook Rock has created a fundraiser on Facebook to help with costs to transport crew and conduct a cleanup/ construction assessment. Maurice, F5NQL, from the KOP team, informs that Francis Breton, F5QF, became a Silent Key (SK) May 1st. Francis was a ham for more than 50 years. He belonged to the REF (French IARU Society), the Clipperton DX Club (CDXC), the Union Française des Telegraphistes (UFT) and was until 2016 a very active member of the Provins ARC/F6KOP. The following was reported on the VP6R Web page on May 24th: May 24, 2019: "Yesterday marked another major logistical waypoint in the Pitcairn Island DXpedition. After verifying that we had all our equipment packed, our container was locked and a U.S. Customs seal applied. A crane then lifted the container on a truck for transportation to a Chicago railhead. From Chicago, the container will go by rail to the East Cost and from there by container ship to Tauranga, New Zealand where its contents will go aboard the RV Braveheart in mid August." Nikola Percin, 9A5W - for his outstanding work in advancing amateur radio in Croatia and the surrounding region. He is a co-founder of 9A1A.
