INDEXA NEWS (Press Release, dated April 29th). INDEXA is supporting the
Dave Kalter Memorial Youth DX Adventure -- INDEXA is proud to announce
its support of the 2022 Dave Kalter Memorial Youth DX Adventure (YDXA)!
The INDEXA Board of Directors is honored to be sponsoring this project
which encourages youth to experience DXing from the other side of the
pileups. This year their DX operation will be conducted at the PJ2T super
station in Curacao.
President Bob Schenck, N2OO, says, "INDEXA has gotten behind this
worthwhile project because we realize it can only create a better under-
standing of DXpeditioning for the youth in our hobby. We see this as a
great opportunity for them to gain first-hand experience from the DXing
point of view and perhaps spur interest with our future generation of
DXpeditioners."
The YDXA was founded in 2009 by Dave Kalter, KB8OCP (SK); Don DuBon,
N6JRL, and Jim Storms, AB8YK, with the purpose of introducing young
amateur radio operators, between the age of 11 to 17, to the excitement
of operating as a team at DX locations. Over the years, YDXA has taken
young DX teams to Costa Rica, Saba Island and Curacao.
The name of the activity was changed to the "Dave Kalter Memorial Youth
DX Adventure" when Dave, KB8OCP, became a Silent Key in 2013.
Young hams who participate with the YDXA team are required to be accom-
panied by a parent or guardian. Through extensive fund raising efforts,
with raffles and donations as well as sponsorship such as INDEXA, YDXA
covers all expenses for the participating youth as well as their accom-
panying adults. These expenses include travel, lodging, and meals with
the exception of travel to and from the embarkation point.
The pandemic curtailed the trip in 2020 and 2021. This year however,
the team returns to contest super station at PJ2T and will be QRV from
14-19th July 2022. The team will operate all bands and modes with the
callsign PJ2Y.
INDEXA encourages everybody to consider supporting this worthwhile
youth DX activity and look for them when they are on the air!
Please visit www.qsl.net/n6jrl for more information.

  See ya' in the Pileups!

** Thanks to the individuals who put the island/group and mode
(which is very important) on their QSNs on their PacketCluster
reports. The format we suggest is "Mode/IOTA#/Island or Group"
     (ex. CW/SA-036/Aruba).

AS-024. Mitsuru, JE1HXZ, is now active as JE1HXZ/6 from Yaeyama Islands,
Hateruma Island, until May 7th. Activity will be on 40-6 meters
using CW, SSB, RTTY and FT8. He will send QSLs via the Bureau
           and LoTW.

EU-006. Fred, ON6QR, will be active as EI/ON6QR from Aran Island during
the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 30-31st) as a Single-Op/DXpedition/
24-Hrs entry. QSL via his home callsign.

EU-008. Members of the Camb-Hams (14 operators) will be active as
GS3PYE/P from near Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye (WW Loc.
IO67QK, WAB NG24), Scotland, between now and May 6th. Activ-
ity will be on 80-2 meters including the QO-100 satellite
and some low earth orbit satellites. QSL via ClubLog's OQRS
           only.

EU-125. Stefan, DL7AOS, will be active as 5P5K from Romo Island between
June 4-18th. Activity will be holiday style with an emphasis
on SSB and the Digital modes on 80-6 meters. His station will
consist of an Icom IC-7300, Expert 1k-FA amplifier, multi-band
vertical antenna (80-10m) and Moxon-beam for 6m. QSL via DL7AOS,
by the Bureau, direct or LoTW. All SSB QSOs will be recorded
and can be found here: https://qsorder.hamradiomap.com

EU-189. (Update MM0UKI/P Rockall) Unfortunately, it is now highly
likely the Rockall trip will be postponed for a year. Sadly,
the team has not been able to secure the correct type of vessel.
Currently, their only hope is for a cancellation (of another
boat) and that's unlikely at this late stage. Rescheduled
dates will be announced in the future.

NA-102. Reiner, DL2AAZ, will be active as TO2AZ from Basseterre Island,
Guadeloupe, between May 27th and June 10th. Activity will be
holiday style on 40-10 meters, including 30/17/12m, using CW
and SSB, with an Icom IC-706MKIIG with a 300 watt amp into a
           GP antenna. QSL via DL2AAZ.

PLEASE NOTE: Since the Webmasters of the have
decided NOT to post or dedicate a Web page to announce upcoming IOTA
operations, PLEASE send your IOTA operations information to the OPDX,
and we will post it here in an upcoming bulletin......

II1, ITALY (Special Event). Members of the Genova ARI Group (IQ1GE) will
activate the special callsign II1PA throughout the month of May to cele-
brate the 30th anniversary of the cultural center in Porto Antico and
the "Renzo Piano multi-armed Bigo Crane." QSL via IQ1GE, by the Bureau,
eQSL, ClubLog or LoTW.

II7, ITALY (Special Event). Luca, IW7EEQ, will be active using the special
callsign II7MFJ to celebrate the 50th anniversary of MFJ Enterprises Inc.
created by Martin F. Jue in 1972. With this special call different activ-
ities will be held and all information will be shared on the QRZ.com page.
Luca will also use this callsign on May 11th, from the Old Taranto Island.
The old part of the city of Taranto is on an island divided from the
mainland by two bridges. The reference for this island according to the
Italian Island Award is P071 and TA - 004. The radio activity will be
held from an ancient noble palace build in 1700 which has an amazing
view overlooking the Taranto Gulf. Listen for QSL info.

ISWL CALLSIGNS (May 2022). The following International Short Wave League
Club (ISWL) club callsigns will be used throughout the month of May 2022:

GX4BJC/A - Operated by Herbie, G6XOU, located in Walton on the Naze,
             Essex. (IOTA EU-005, WAB-TM22, WLOTA-1841)
MN1SWL/A - Operated by Alan, GI0VWU, located in Belfast, Northern
             Ireland. (IOTA EU-115, WAB-J36, WLOTA-1439)

QSL GX4BJC and MN1SWL callsigns via Dick, M5DIK.
All callsigns via the Bureau, eQSL.cc, or direct with return postage.
(No IRCs in the UK). The I.S.W.L. is a member of the European PSK Club.
All QSL info is on: www.iswl.org.uk or www.qrzcq.com or www.qrz.com or

JW, SVALBARD (Reminder). Members of the Oesterdalgruppen of NRRL (LA4D)
will be active as JW4D from the Longyearbyen club station (JW5E) on Spits-
bergen Island (EU-026) between May 3-8th. Activity will be on 80-10 meters
using CW, SSB and the Digital modes. Operators mentioned are Kim/LA1KUA,
Leif/LA2VTA, Henrik/LA6ETA, Gudleik/LA6FTA, Haakon/LB3LI, Knut/LA9DSA,
Arne-Kristoffer/LB1WJ and KjetilLB5MG. QSL via LA4D.

JW, SVALBARD (Reminder). Operator Knut, LA9DSA, may sometimes be active
as JW9DSA from the Longyearbyen club station (JW5E) on Spitsbergen Island
(EU-026) between May 1-8th. However, Knut will use the callsign JW9DSA/P
during two possible SOTA trips from Svalbard along with Manuel (JW/HB9DQM),
Lauris (JW/LB1RH) and Mikhail (JW/LB8CG) between May 1-5th. This is their
second SOTA DXpedition and the plan is to activate 2 summits; exact summits
will be selected based on the weather conditions and amount of snow left
on the site. Possible candidates for activation are:
             * https://sotl.as/summits/JW/MS-140
             * https://sotl.as/summits/JW/MS-095
They will set up a tent and have 2 hours of radio time at each summit.
While on the summits, they would like to prioritize SOTA program par-
ticipants, thus they would like to ask their correspondents to only
spot them on the SOTAwatch cluster, unless asked otherwise.
     * JW/LB1RH and JW9DSA will focus on SSB in 15/17/20m
     * JW/LB8CG and JW/HB9DQM will focus on CW in 15/17m/20m/30m
Most likely the 20m band will be active all the time. Depending on
conditions/pile-up size they will probably work split on CW, so please
listen for an "UP" instruction. Their equipment consists of an Elecraft
KX2 + JUMA PA-100D amplifier and Yaesu FT-857D radios and run 100w, and
two trapped vertical three-band antennas with elevated verticals:
15/17/20m at the SSB station and 17/20/30m bands at the CW station.
QSL via LoTW and eQSL. NO Bureau. Visit their SOTA Web page at:
                        https://jwsota.fun/info

KH0, MARIANA ISLANDS. Tom, KH0/KC0W, is now signing KH0W/m with a new
FT-891 in his car with a broken 2 foot broomstick with 17' of wire wrapped
around it for an antenna. Efficiently is perhaps 5 Watts ERP. Activity
has been mainly on 20/17 meters CW. Tom states, "After 60,000+ QSOs from
KH0 land over the last few years I'm now interested in a new challenge,
mobile operating. Will mainly be operating CW with a SSB contact here
and there in contests. Looking forward to activating American Memorial
Park (K-7869) for POTA enthusiasts. Waiting for delivery of a Bioenno
Tech battery to activate Mount Tapochau for SOTA. (KH0/SA-001)."

[edited]: We are still not receiving cards from some of the smaller
countries probably due to covid. We are receiving cards from the U.K.,
Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Spain, Korea, Luxembourg, Portugal and
several other countries. The 2 QSL Bureaus in W4 land are in the pro-
cess of merging. The Sterling Park Bureau is taking over the management.

S9, SAO TOME (Update/Change). RYAN, K0EFW, will be active as S9EFW from
Sao Tome (AF-023) starting the second week in June (not May), mainly June
14-19th. Activity will be on 40/20/15/10 meters using primarily SSB with

SILENT KEY (SK). It was announced on Sunday, April 24th, with much sadness
that well-known "FOCer, super CW-operator, Top CW-Contester and DXpedi-
tioner" Roger Western, G3SXW, became a Silent Key (SK). The report states:
"It is over two and a half years since the unfortunate accident where Roger
fell off a ladder while clearing leaves from the roof gutter on his house.
Since then Roger was either in hospital or in a nursing home. He passed
away at around 0915z this morning Sunday, April 24th."
OPDX and its readers would like to send our deepest sympathy to the
family and friends of G3SXW.
  ADDED NOTES:
  * John, G4IRN, has posted some snap-shots and tributes to Roger Western,
G3SXW, on the Voodoo Contest Group's Web page at:
    https://www.voodoocontestgroup.com/voodoo-history/g3sxw-rip
    Also see: http://g3txf.com/dxtrip/G3SXW-70/SXW-70-Party.html
  * Tom, K8CX, has also just added a tribute page for Roger Western,
G3SXW, on his famous "HAMGALLERY" Web site at:
                  http://hamgallery.com/Tribute/G3SXW

T42, CUBA (Special Event). Look for special event station T42ITU to be
active between May 14-17th, to commemorate the 157th anniversary of the
ITU constitution. Activity will be on all bands and modes including the
satellites. All contacts will be confirm via LoTW and QRZ.

TO9W ST. MARTIN ISLAND DXPEDITION (Update/Press Release, dated April 25th).
[edited] We are pleased to announce details for the next TO9W activity from
the beautiful island of Saint Martin. Activity will take place November
30th to December 9th, 2022. The 2022 team will include K9NU, N9EP, FS4WBS,
W9AP and K9EL. Our goal is to make as many QSOs as possible on all bands
and modes, with special emphasis on CW. We normally give priority to the
160, 80, 40 bands in that order, but with the increased sunspot activity,
we will establish band priorities based on conditions at that time. The
first two to three days are dedicated to the installation of antennas.
We will operate during breaks and in the evenings the first few days.
Antenna installation has priority. We will likely do more FT8 the first
few days. We plan real-time uploads using the ClubLog Live Stream software
for Expeditions assuming a steady Internet connection. John, W9ILY, is
our QSL Manager and will upload our logs to LoTW daily. We will be well
supported by the excellent pilot team of K9NB, W9MK, AA9A and W9ILY. All
requests for information, schedules, QSO verification and general comments
should be addressed to (TO9W2022@gmail.com). We will once again offer
certificates for the most band-modes worked in various categories. Updates
and photos will be published on our TO9W Facebook page at:
              https://www.facebook.com/groups/539588070673287
For more details about TO9W, please go to our website:
              http://www.k9el.com/TO9W/TO9W.htm

TX5N AUSTRAL ISLANDS DXPEDITION NEWS (Update). The TX5N team is now QRT.
The TX5N team states on Friday, April 29th: A log will have been uploaded
by the time you receive this bulletin. Please use the "Not in Log" process
on M0URX.com to resolve busted / not in log issues. We will leave for the
airport at 11AM(local) this morning. Thanks for the terrific pile-ups.
73, Team TX5N

V3, BELIZE. Members of the Belize Amateur Radio Club are planning a DX-
pedition to Mauger Caye, Turneffe Atoll (NA-123), using the special call-
sign V3E. Activity will be between October 21-23rd, possibly longer for
few more days. Operations will be on 80-10 meters using CW, SSB and FT8.
QSL via IZ8CCW, ClubLog or LoTW. They may try to upload the log during
the operation if they have a good internet connection. Look for more
details to be forthcoming.

V5, NAMIBIA (Update/Reminder). Paul, ZS2PS, reports on QRZ.com that he
will be operating as V5/ZS5PS and 100% mobile when he visits Namibia
sometime early May through mid-June. He states [edited], "I cannot give
you a fixed QTH as I will be operating from my Landcruiser and we will
be staying where ever we get to from about 4pm local time on the day. My
setup is a Yaesu 857D, and a Hustler antenna. I have coils for 80, 60,
40, 20, 30 and 10m and will be using them depending on conditions. Will
be doing some POTA along the way. Most probably from Kaudaum, Estosha,
or the Waterberg game reserves. If trip seem rather haphazard in plan-
ning it is because we never plan a trip. We decide on the day in which
direction we will go." QSL via his home callsign, direct, by the Bureau,
eQSL or LoTW.

VK0, ANTARCTICA. Warren, VK7WN, is scheduled to be a team member for the
Australia's Casey Research Station (WAP AUS-02) in Antarctica over the
2022 winter (southern hemisphere). He will sign VK0WN, but his activity
will be limited as time permits. LoTW registration is underway, as are
QSL cards. A Webcam is available at the Casey Station, and can be viewed
at: https://www.antarctica.gov.au/antarctic-operations/webcams/casey

VP2M, MONTSERRAT. Thaire, W2APF, will once again be active as VP2MDX
