13 COLONIES (Special Event). Once again the annual (the 14th) "13 Colonies
Special Event" will take place between 1300z, July 1st and 0400z July 8th.
New since 2015, the 13 Colonies have added another new French sister event
station. The new bonus station is TM13COL from France (ops. Didier/F5OGL,
Alain/F6FET, Alain/F5RMK and Didier/F5MNH). Also, the other foreign bonus
station GB13COL will operate from Durham, England. The third bonus station
is WM3PEN, and the 13 Colonies certificate will have a Liberty Bell added
to it for a contact with this station. There should be at least two stations
from each of the 13 colonies on the air, as well as Super contest stations,
multi-operator Club stations and OM and XYL teams. The U.S. original 13
colonies are CT-DE-GA-MA-MD-NC-NH-NJ-NY-PA-RI-SC-VA. The special events
stations mentioned are: K2A (NY), K2B (VA), K2C (RI), K2D (CT), K2E (DE),
K2F (MD), K2G (GA), K2H (MA), K2I (NJ), K2J (NC), K2K (NH), K2L (SC), and
K2M (PA). All HF bands will be in play including the WARC bands with the
exception of 60 meters. 2 meters and 6 meter simplex are encouraged.
All modes of operation should be represented - SSB, CW, RTTY, Digital,
and the Satellites. The mode of operation is up to the individual colony
state station.
The theme this year is the "Land Battles of the Revolution". The cer-
tificate is adorned with a great battle! The certificate is printed on
heavy card stock. Stations working one state or as many as all 16, will
be eligible for the certificate. A "Clean Sweep" indicator will be affixed
for those lucky enough to work all 16. A special endorsement will be
attached for stations contacting their sister operation, WM3PEN, in Phil-
adelphia, PA, where independence was declared. All certificate requests
go to KU2US and QSL card requests to each state's QSL Manager.
For more details on the stations, suggested frequencies, QSL info and
how to obtain the special certificate, see: http://www.13colonies.us
Also, check out their FaceBook page:
           https://www.facebook.com/groups/13colonies
All Short Wave Listeners (SWL), you can also qualify for the certificate.

ation."

3Y0J BOUVET ISLAND DXPEDITION NEWS (Updates). Co-Leaders Ken/LA7GIA and
Erwann/LB1QI, provide the following updates:
  * June 29th - We have now received a full pallet of freeze dried food
from the Norwegian company Drytech. Drytech is located in Tromsø,
only 130 km from the North Pole's and this company has found the
perfect way to freeze dry the ingredients and managed to develop
their own gentle method that retains the unique taste and consistency
    of the ingredients.
These hot meals using boiled water are very popular in Norway and
for a good reason: they do the job!
From the french Adventurers Vincent Colliard and Norwegian explorer
Børge Ousland - with their Icelegacy project - crossing 20 of the
largest icecaps on earth to Johan Skullman an ex-Swedish armed forces,
responsible for the very important part of combat performance in
developing soldiers equipment, experts support Drytech meals.
The company is also really engaged in reducing their footprint on
the environment. Focusing on packing, the bag itself should ensure
that it retains the taste and consistency of the meal for many years.
Long shelf life reduces food waste!
Check they website for more information: https://realoutdoorfood.com/
      On FaceBook: https://www.facebook.com/drytech.no
    73s! 3Y0J Team
  * Thanks to Greater Milwaukee DX Association for doubling their donation!
Today we have paid the 2nd vessel deposit to Marama! The team is fully
committed to go to Bouvet and activate this rare #2 DXCC. In 2 months
time we ship the container and in 6 months we depart for Bouvet.

** Thanks to the individuals who put the island/group and mode
(which is very important) on their QSNs on their PacketCluster
reports. The format we suggest is "Mode/IOTA#/Island or Group"
     (ex. CW/SA-036/Aruba).

VK0M, MACQUARIE ISLANDS (Update). Matt, VK5HZ, continues to be active as
VK0MQ (not VK0HZ as first reported on QRZ.com) from Macquarie Island
(AN-005, WW Loc. QD95lm). More details were reported on QRZ.com as of
June 25th. Matt will be on the island through to around October. He states
[edited], "Please note this is not a DXpedition, I operate in my limited
rec time which is shared with other hobbies and relaxing. I also spend
time completing work in the field for upto a week or more at a time.
Enjoying working FT8 at the moment. My goto frequencies for Fox/Hound mode
are: 80m 3567 kHz 17m 18095 kHz
                   40m 7056 kHz 15m 21091 kHz
                   30m 10131 kHz 12m 24911 kHz
                   20m 14083 kHz 10m 28091 kHz
Note you'll need to be in special mode > Hound to work me in this way.
This is the best way to give the most OP's the chance to work me. Thanks
to Grant, VK5GR, for his advice in operating the fox mode FT8.
My rigs are IC-7100 (main) and IC-7000, into a Moonraker 80B whip. This
antenna is Australian made, designed for ocean going vessels and performs
very well here on Macquarie Island where we regularly experience gale
force winds. Antenna options are limited due to high winds and chance
of bird strike, Macquarie island is home to 3.5 million seabirds!
Currently uploading to ClubLog and will upload to LoTW at the end of
the month. QSL arrangements TBC."
Matt does have a Twitter account and does announce his activity at:
                           https://twitter.com/vk0mq
PLEASE NOTE: Matt has mentioned on Twitter (June 25th) that a pirate

He states, "I'm very disappointed."
