SPECIAL NOTE FROM EDITOR (Tedd, KB8NW)
Just as I was finishing this week's issue, I received a phone call from my step-mother informing me that things turned worse for my Dad. I will be heading west ASAP, so there will probabaly be no OPDX until further notice. Thanks for understanding.

"I dedicate this issue to by Dad. I hope I made him proud, as his son as I was proud of him as a father. I will miss him when he leaves, but I know he will be with my mother."

He informs OPDX that he received the licence 6W/EA4ATI and also mentioned that he will be on the air for the next ARRL 10m Contest as 6W1EA. Dani states that he will be here until June-July (he is working there now). We asked him what bands he would be on and he replied stating, "For now I have a three element yagi beam antenna for 10-15-20, but soon I will set up the dipoles for the other bands (40-80-160 and WARC bands)." QSL via direct to his home callsign EA4ATI.

C9, MOZAMBIQUE (Update/Looking For Operators)
Frosty, K5LBU, reports that so far there are 3 operators going with him to Mozambique in July 2006. They plan on arriving in Maputo, Mozambique, on June 29th and depart on July 13th. They plan on having 2 complete stations set up and running the whole time. One for CW and one for SSB. They will also have a station set up for RTTY and PSK. They are planning to be active in the IARU Contest the weekend of July 8-9th with one CW and one SSB station. Frosty mentions that he just returned from Mozambique and Swaziland on November 26th after looking at a very good site at Praia do Bilene which is on the coast about 80 miles north of Maputo.

He states that they will have the stations set up in a cabin that has 3 rooms so they can put the CW and PSK/RTTY station in one and the SSB in the other. They will also have 2 trailer mounted towers set up along with the 72 foot vertical for 160-80 meters which also works on 30 meters quite well. There will be four 40 meters sloping dipoles on each tower that work very well also. Daniel, ZS6JR, is also planning to set up an EME station so they can also try that mode. Frosty states, "So are there any more that would like to join us and make this trip? We will have at least two more 2 bed room cabins and can get a third if more operators join with us." If interested in joining their team, please contact Frosty via E-mail at: frosty1@pdq.net

QSL INFO AND NEWS
POSTAGE GOING UP (Other Reminder). Charlie, W0YG, wants to remind everyone that postal rates, both domestic and international, increase after the first of the year. Many stations, including overseas stations, that sent just an SASE do not have sufficient postage to guarantee a return of VK9XG and VK9CG cards. Charlie states, "I am trying to weed down the VK9XG stack as much as I can now but I will not have the VK9CG cards until after the postal increase goes into effect. It is tough to subsidize the entire trip and the QSL cards and have to face subsidizing postage too. I am sure this caught many by surprise, especially our overseas friends. However the fact remains if I drop a SAE in the mail with user installed 80 cents airmail postage, I am not sure it will get to them as there is some chance involved."

Ralph, K2PF, informs OPDX that he will be handling QSL cards for the recent 4O3AA activity.

Martin, OL5Y/OK1FUA, operated IS0N during 2005 CQ WW DX CW Contest. QSL via OK1MG.

LOTW NEWS. Several sources are reporting that the "Lookbook of The World" (LoTW) is scheduled to become accessible for the "Worked All States" (WAS) award by early January at the latest. Also, it is anticipated that still additional ARRL as well as non-ARRL award programs will be available through the LoTW later this year. NEW MANAGER. Gert, K5WW, informs OPDX that effective immediately, he will be Tom, CX7TT's, QSL Manager. QSL direct (with SASE/GS/IRC), by the bureau or LoTW is accepted.

NOT THE MANAGER. Joe, WDØM, reports receiving QSLs for KG4FK, and would like to report that he is not the QSL Manager.

QSL PQ7Q via PY7VI. Activity was by a group of PY7 operators during the ARRL 160m Contest from Olinda Lighthouse (ARLHS BRA-068 and DFB PE-004).

IMPORTANT: WE ANSWER ALL VALID REQUESTS. SOME QSLS APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN LOST ON THE WAY BACK. DO CONTACT US IF THIS IS YOUR CASE. AND QUIT SAYING UA4WHX DOES NOT QSL.
4. AFRICA OPERATIONS WILL BE ANSWERED ALL TOGETHER AFTER THE TRIP IS OVER.

I HOPE THAT HELPS. 73, VLADIMIR BYKOV, UA4WHX/5H3VMB

QSL YB1JZS via OK1DOT: Petr Gustab, P.O. Box 52, CESKY BROD 282 01, Czech Republic. QSL cards received by bureau are answered via bureau. Cards received directly with SAE and 1 USD/IRC will be answered directly (do not send old IRCs please).
