5A, LIBYA
An international team of operators are planning to put together a November 2006 Libya DXpedition which will include an entry in the CQ World Wide CW DX Contest. Activity will be on all bands with CW and SSB, and for the first time ever, digital modes on RTTY, SSTV and PSK plus another first will be FM. They will use the callsign 5A7A. Their plan is to be active from November 14-28th. The team will be located at the Mediterranean coast just outside Tripoli the capital city. The team members will include: Andy/DJ7IK, Mustapha/DL1BDF, Dominik/DL5EBE, Gunter/DJ9CB, Ruth/IT9ESZ (YL), David/K3LP, Manfred/DK1BT, Volkmar/DF2SS, Falk/DK7YY, Andi/DL9USA, Markus/DJ7EO, Jan/DJ8NK, Franz/DF6QV, Rein/PA0R, Willy/HB9AHL, Franz/DK1II, Pirmin/HB9DTE, Jurgen/DJ2VO and Dieter/DL3KDV. Members of the Nippon Boy Scout Amateur Radio Club (JA1YSS) will be active as 8J1S during the CQ WW WPX SSB Contest (March 25-26th) as a Multi/Single entry. QSL via the Bureau.

8Q, MALDIVES
Simon, M0BOX, is planning a second and final holiday trip here, and will be active as 8Q7BO from the Kuredu Island Resort (AS-018), April 7-20th. Activity will be during his spare time on all bands 40-10 meters, the WARC bands included. Simon will concentrate on the digital modes, mainly PSK31 plus RTTY and maybe SSTV if requested, and of course SSB. He will NOT be accepting SKED requests before activation. 9M6, EAST MALAYSIA
Operator Pete, SM5GMZ, will be active as 9M6/SM5GMZ starting March 21st for two weeks. Activity will be on all bands and modes, with a special emphasis on 160/80 meters. QSL direct to his home callsign.

A72, QATAR (Special Event)
Operators Juma/A71EM, Ali/A71BX and possibly other Qatari stations will activate the special event callsign A72OO6 (Alfa Seventy Two Oscar Oscar Six) from June 1st to July 31st (two months). Activity is to celebrate the preparation for the 15th (2006) Asian Games to be held in Doha. Activity will be on all modes and bands. QSL via EA7FTR.

AH8, AMERICAN SAMOA
Dr. Gavin, W9EYE, plans to be active as AH8/W9EYE from here May 15-21st. Activity will be limited during his spare-time while working as a medical missionary in Pago Pago, Tutuila Island (OC-045). Look for him to be active on all HF bands SSB (no CW) as propagation allows. QSL via his home callsign with SASE or via the W9 Bureau.

AX, AUSTRALIA
Operators Keith/VK6XH, John/VK6NU, Andrew/VK6ARA, Mirek/ VK6DXI, John/VK6HZ and Wesley/VK6WPX will be active as AX6ANC during the CQ WW WPX SSB Contest (March 25-26th) as a Multi/? entry. QSL via VK6NE. The "AX" prefix is to celebrate the Commonwealth Games.

C6, BAHAMAS
Foster, W1CGT, is active as W1CGT/C6A from South Andros Island (NA-001), now through March 25th. Activity will be limited and will take place mainly between his afternoons on 14300 kHz (+/- 50hz) on SSB. He will be active on other bands (40-6 meters) as conditions allow. CARIBBEAN TRIP
Ronnie, SM7DKF, will be activating two Caribbean islands (FJ and FS) in May. Activity will be on all bands using an Icom IC-706 MkIIg with 100w. QSL only direct to SM7DKF or LoTW. His schedule is as follows:

May 6-10th - Activity from St. Martin (NA-105, DIFO FS-001, Grid FK88) as FS/SM7DKF from the Esmeralda Resort, Orient Beach.

FG, GUADELOUPE

HH, HAITI (Clarification on KP1)
In last week's OPDX.751, we mentioned that operator Chris, W3CMP, will be heading to Haiti on a mission trip with the Northwest Haitian Christian Mission

from June 17-28th. He will be active as HH4/W3CMP from St. Louis du Nord (Grid FK39) on the northern coast. We also stated that Chris is also thinking about making a possibe side trip to Navassa Island (KP1) for an operation since he hears that Haitian fishermen occupy the island on a regular basis. This is not totally correct. Chris states,
"I intend to make some inquiries about possible transportation sources to Navassa since Haitian fishermen go there on a regular basis. HOWEVER, I have NO intention of going there, NOR do I have permission to go there at the present time!!!! Any information I get is purely for informational purposes."
IOTA NEWS
AS-115. Berkin, TA3J, will be active as TA3J/0 from Antalya - Sican Adasi (Rat Island - KM56JU) for the first time ever between April 1-22nd (in good weather conditions). Activity will be on 160/80/40/20/15/10/2 meters and the WARC bands on all modes. QSL via Nilay, TA3YJ, direct (only SASE and 1 IRC, no green stamps please) or by the bureau. No eQSL. EU-047. Look for Radio Club DL0RU/LH and Dieter DJ8DS/LH to activate Juist Island (N-03 for the German Islands Award) and the Memmertfeuer lighthouse (GLHA #69, ARLHS FED-121, WLH DL-012) on April 29-30th. Activity will be on 40/30/20/15 meters SSB and PSK-31. QSL via their home callsigns, direct or through the bureau.

EU-088. Operators Ole/OZ2TF, Jan/OZ5JR, Klaus/OZ7KDJ and Poul/OZ9V will be active as OZ8MW/p from Anholt Island (NK-001 for the Danish Islands Award) between July 27th and August 1st. Activity will on 80/40/20/15/10 meters CW/SSB and include the IOTA Contest. QSL via their home callsigns, direct or by the bureau.

EU-096. Look for operators Ric/DL2VFR and Frank/DL2SWW to activate Korppoo Island as OH1/DL2SWW and OH1/DL2VFR, March 22-29th. Activity will be on 160-6 meters on CW (mostly), SSB and RTTY. Equipment will be an IC-706, IC-756, Elecraft K2, Finnfet PA 1000w and vertical antennas. Ric told OPDX, "Our goal is to activate EU-096 ranking as the 4th most wanted IOTA-group in Europe at the moment (only 18% claimants) and to test our equipment for further expeditions in the future." EU-113. Operators Theodoros/SV1GRM, Sotirios/SV1HER and Dimitris/SV1EDZ will be active as SV1GRM/8 from Kythira Island (MIA MG-062) and the Spathi lighthouse (ARLHS GRE-120, WLH SV-084, WOLTA LH-1703) from May 26-28th. Activity will be on CW/SSB on 160/80/40/20/17/30/2 meters. QSL via SV1GRM, bureau preferred.

EU-171. Look for Ela/DL1TM and Tor/DJ4MG to be active as homecall/p from Insel Vendsyssel-Thy/Nordjylland Island (NJ-001 for the Danish Islands Award, WW Loc. JO47VK) between April 16th and May 4th. Activity will be on 160/80/40/20/15 meters SSB and 20 meters PSK-31. They will also be active on 2 meters SSB. QSL via their home callsigns.

NA-026. John, NY6DX, will be operating from Staten Island (USI NY-004S, Richmond County, New York), from March 24-26th. Activity will be on, or near the usual IOTA frequencies. QSL via his home callsign, direct only (QRZ.com).

NA-031. John, NY6DX, will be operating as NY6DX/1 from Block Island (USI RI-New One!, Washington County, Rhode Island), from April 11-14th. Look for activity on, or near the usual IOTA frequencies. QSL via his home callsign, direct only (QRZ.com).

IS0, SARDINIA
Mauro, IN3QBR, will be active as IS0/K7QB during the CQ WW WPX SSB Contest (March 25-26th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (80m) entry. QSL via IN3QBR. Look for low band operations prior to and after the contest.

LX, LUXEMBOURG
A group of German and Luxembourg operators will be active as LX8M during the CQ WPX SSB Contest (March 25-26th) as a Multi/2 entry. QSL is via LX1ER. Please look for them especially on the lower bands. They will try to do 160m at night during the top of the hour.

OA, PERU (IOTA/LH Activity)
Daniel, DL5YWM, will be in Lima again and will be active as OA4/DL5YWM from April 7-30th. Activity will be limited to his freetime on CW/SSB. Daniel informs OPDX that he will "try" 160m and 80m but it is difficult because of the very high QRM level in Lima City. QSL to his homecall using the (QRZ.com) address. He also mentions that Daniel, DL5SE, will arrving in Lima on April 17th and stay until April 30th and will be active as OA4/DL5SE. His activity will be mostly CW. From April 22-26th (+/- 1 day, depenting on the weather and the sea), operators Marcial/OA4DM, Jorge/OA4BHY, Daniel/DL5SE and Daniel/DL5YWM are planning to go to Isla Chincha del Centro (IOTA SA-073). They will be active as OC5I and are expected to be on 160-10 meters CW/SSB (on the IOTA freqs.). The lighthouse will be activated there, and the reference number is WLOTA 362. QSL for this operation is via Jeff, DL5WM (ok on (QRZ.com)).

PJ6, ST. MAARTEN
Joeke, PA0VDV, will be active as PJ6/PA0VDV from Saba (NA-145), now through April 5th. Bands and modes of activity were not provided. QSL via PA0VDV.

LA5YJ QSL STATUS
Harry, K7GQ, informs OPDX that he received an E-mail from Hugo, LA5YJ, this past week. He (Hugo) indicated that he is in Pakistan for the next 5 months, and so, won't be able to respond to QSL requests for his various operations until he returns to Norway. A portion of his E-mail reads: " I will as soon as returning to LA (Norway) I will take care of all the cards, including 9N, XU, MI, JW and LA". PLEASE NOTE: Harry, K7GQ, will not be dealing with cards right now.

S9, SAO TOME AND PRINCIPE
Frank, F4BQO, will be active as S9/F4BQO between now and March 26th from Sao Tome. He will be active every morning between 0800-1000z and every afternoon starting around 1700z, on 20/15/10 meters CW/SSB. QSL via F4BQO. ADDED NOTE: Frank will head back to Gabon after this activity and will be active as TR8FC. He can be found every morning on 21020 kHz on CW, and every afternoon starting 1700z, on 14300 kHz on SSB.

S0, WESTERN SAHARA (Update)
Antonio, EA5RM, informs that a survey has been added on the S01R Western Sahara 2006 Dxpedition Web page. The team is looking for help from the Ham community to know which bands and modes are the most needed from this country. The Web page is:

SPECIAL EVENT
Members from the radio club station RK3DZB at the Cosmonauts Traning Center (QTH - Zvyozdny Gorodok "Star-City") will activate the special callsign R45G from 0600z, on April 10th until April 16th. Activity is to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the first flight of a person in space. The Russian Cosmonaut Jury Alekseevich Gagarin on the spacecraft, "Vostok-1", made the first historical mankind flight into space on April 12th, 1961. He orbited the earth for 108 minutes. Club members plan to be active on CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31, MFSK16 and SSTV on the HF bands. The equipment to be used are: an IC-756 ProII (2 piece), FT-990, ACOM-2000A and TL-922A. The operators mentioned are: Vladimir/UA3DKR (SSB, SSTV, PSK31, RTTY), Paul/RU3DNN (SSB, SSTV, PSK31, RTTY, MFSK16), Andrey/RV3FF (CW) and Sergey/RV3DSA (SSB). SPECIAL EVENT
Look for the special callsign YM125ATA to be aired by Berkin, TA3J, from Antalya (KM56JU) between 0000z, April 23rd and 2359z, November 10th. Activity is to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Mustafa Kemal ATATURK's birthday. ATATURK was the modern founder of Turkish Republic. Operations will be on 160/80/40/20/15/10/2 meters and the WARC bands on all modes. Berkin, TA3J, has gotten written authorization from Turkish Republic Telecommunication Department of Mersin Site Management to use this special prefix YM125 and the suffix ATA. SPECIAL EVENT (Ship Anniversaries)
The following are activities by members of the Royal Navy Amateur Radio Society (RNARS).

GB0MPA - Look for this special callsign to be aired April 4th, for 28 days, to commemorate the callsign of RMS Carpathia, the ship that saved 750 persons from the wreck of the Titanic. No details were provided on bands/modes of activities. QSL via GW0ANA.

GB80QE - Look for this special callsign to be aired April 20th, for 28 days, to celebrate the 80th birthday of HM the Queen. No details were provided on bands/modes of activities. QSL via GW0ANA.

SY9, CRETE
Operators Dimitris/SV9COL, John/SV9FBG, John/SV9FBK and George/SV9GPV will be active with the special callsign SY9A during the CQ WPX SSB Contest (March 25-26th) as a Multi-1 (single)/High-Power entry.

SY05, GREECE (Special Event)
Look for special event station SY05AIA to be active now through June 15th. Activity is to celebrate the 5th anni- versary of Athens International Airport (AIA). Operators mentioned are: SV1GE, SV1RP, SV1AAU, SV2DGH, SV1DPJ, SV2FWV, SV1JCZ and SV0XAD. QSL via SV2FWV, by the bureau or direct to: Takis Perrotis, 3 Metamorfoseos STR., 15234 Halandri, GREECE. TA, TURKEY (Rare IOTA Planned!)
Pavel/TA2ZAF and members of OKDX Foundation are planning to activate one of rare Turkish islands in the beginning of May. For more information, visit the following Web page at:

VU4, ANDAMAN ISLANDS
Jan/DJ8NK informs OPDX that Roger/G3LQP and he will arrive on April 17th and plan to be active before/after and during the NIAR HAMFEST at Point Blair. Jan told OPDX, "I will try to operate the digital modes, because I believe that there is a high demand and a good chance to get through with low power at this part of the sunspot cycle, although these modes are terribly slow." ZD8, ASCENSION ISLAND
Justin, G4TSH, will be active as ZD8Q between March 24th and April 8th. Activity will be on 40-10 meters, mainly CW and during his spare time. QSL via G4TSH.
