Marko, N5ZO, will be active as ZD8O from Ascension Island (AF-003) during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via OH0XX. Marko informed OPDX that he will be there by October 20th and will leave on November 1st. He states that he will operate some CW and SSB prior to contest probably starting the weekend preceding the contest. Activity will be on all HF bands, but not on the 30/17/12 meter bands. He states, "I'm not going there for a DXpedition, and my main focus will be on preparing for the contest, but I will operate a bit here and there before the event to test out equipment and antennas, but I will not operate hours and hours during the week preceding the contest. After the contest I don't expect to turn the radio on."
ZD8, ASCENSION ISLAND (Update)
Operators Al/W6HGF/ZD8F and Tom/K7ZZ/ZD8ZZ will be active from Garden Cottage on top of Green Mountain on Ascension Island (AF-003) between November 8-22nd. Look for Al to focus on RTTY, while Tom will provide the CW operations. Both operators will operate SSB at times, and there may be some 6 meter opening opportunities. QSL via their home callsigns direct only or LoTW. It appears that there is no internet available for them on the mountain.
